John Adams Middle School Instrumental Music "Virtual Spring Concert"
Welcome to the John Adams Middle School Instrumental Music “Virtual Spring Concert!” We present this collaborative project to our community in appreciation of the tremendous support our young musicians have received all year, but especially during this very challenging time of physical distancing due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In the videos below, each of our bands and orchestras "performs" one selection that was intended for our concerts in May. The biggest challenge that our students faced with this project was experiencing the absence of human connection that is inherent and imperative to a meaningful live musical performance. Our musicians did not have the benefit of a conductor to provide immediate feedback or musical directions. They did not have a live ensemble to help their ears adjust intonation, balance dynamics, align articulation, or “sculpt” and shape the music. However, there is no doubt that every student put forth their best effort, and brought great heart to this virtual performance. We could not have asked for more.
Our heartfelt thanks to our incredible families for their on-going support and guidance. Giving our children the love of music could not be more important as we move forward through these uncertain and troubling times. Music is essential for staying connected through the human experience.
We hope that you enjoy our “Virtual Spring Concert,” and that you are as proud of our young musicians as we are.
A welcome message from Ms. Woo and Mr. Garnreiter
