Music Conversion BandMr. Garnreiter, Conductor
AM PERIOD Mondays through Thursdays, 7:45 - 8:30am Music Conversion offers instruction for students who have at least one year of instrumental music experience and would like to begin instruction on a second instrument (woodwind, brass or percussion). This class is structured for the student to receive supplemental instruction in alignment with the curriculum of the JAMS Symphonic Band or JAMS Concert Band. Students are enrolled concurrently in Music Conversion and one of the band ensemble classes.

Music Conversion introduces fundamental woodwind, brass and percussion techniques as well as basic musicianship and music theory. Instruction is offered for the following instruments: oboe, bassoon, bass clarinet, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba. All other instruments will be offered at the discretion of the instructor. School instruments are provided on a limited basis.
Music Conversion students (and families) should be prepared to make an A Period commitment (Monday - Thursday 7:45 - 8:30am). Students receive an academic grade for Music Conversion, and the school-wide attendance policy is enforced.
For students choosing ONE elective (i.e. Band II), the class schedule might look like this:
