Music Conversion introduces fundamental woodwind, brass and percussion techniques as well as basic musicianship and music theory. Instruction is offered for the following instruments: oboe, bassoon, bass clarinet, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba. All other instruments will be offered at the discretion of the instructor. School instruments are provided on a limited basis.
Music Conversion students (and families) should be prepared to make an A Period commitment (Monday-Thursday 7:30-8:10am). Students receive an academic grade for Music Conversion, and the school-wide attendance policy is enforced.
For students choosing ONE elective (i.e. Band II), the class schedule might look like this:
A Period: Music Conversion
Period 1: Humanities
Period 2: Humanities
Period 3: Band II/Concert Band (this is the student's primary music class)
Period 4: Math
Period 5: Physical Education
Period 6: Science
For students choosing TWO electives (Immersion counts as an elective), the class schedule might look like this:

Period 1: Immersion (Humanities)
Period 2: Immersion (Humanities)
Period 3: Band II/Concert Band
